Spling’s Galileo Pick of the Week: Almost Famous

Almost Famous @ Fedisa Rooftop (10 Nov)

Almost Famous is one of those authentic soul-searching films that immerses you in the life and times of young William, a budding music journalist who finds himself in too deep. Tracking a band called Stillwater as part of his first Rolling Stone assignment, and caught in the infamous ’70s rock scene, he’s living his dream and his mother’s nightmare. A stellar cast, we get great character performances from Kate Hudson, Billy Crudup, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Francis McDormand, Jason Lee and Zooey Deschanel.

James Cameron’s love for music pours into this on-the-road music drama as class acts such as Simon & Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, Rod Stewart, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Cat Stevens and The Who fill the soundtrack. It’s a chance to live vicariously through a naive and ambitious kid earning his rock ‘n roll stripes.

This nostalgic rock ‘n roll drama is showing under the stars at The Galileo Open Air Cinema.
