Me Before You is a surprisingly heartfelt, entertaining and enjoyable adaptation of Jojo Moyes’s novel. We’re enchanted by an expressive Emilia Clarke, who leaves her Game of Thrones shell in the dust, adopting a ditsy, sweet yet charming Bridget Jones Jnr. type character. While a little formulaic, this romance drama has a freshness spurred on by great co-lead chemistry and an intimate tone.
Take the core relational dynamic of The Intouchables, the heartfelt fun of The Bucket List and a dash of Bridget Jones’s Diary to get an idea of the exuberant and spirited “romcom” at play in Me Before You.
